Giants

2015- The Year of The Giants

During the last 4 years we at EmberGecko.com have been very busy finding the right Super Giants and Giant Morphs that would fit within our Breeding Program. The background image on this page is our main Super Giant Male RAPTOR "Iron Man" at 146 grams and still growing.

We have aquired some amazing Giant and Super Giant Breeders from Ron Tremper, the creator of the Giant morph. One of our main goals for 2015 is to continue what we started in 2011 and greatly increase the size of most of our Hatchlings this season. We have integrated Super Giant breeders into every program for 2015. In many cases all of the breeders are Super Giants. We do have many available Giants and Super Giant Leopard Geckos for sale.

Giant Rule:

  • Super Giant
    • Male – Must reach at least 110 grams in its first 12 months of life.
    • Female – Must reach at least 90 grams in its first 12 months of life.
  • Giant

    • Male – Must reach at least 80 to 109 grams in its first 12 months of life.
    • Female – Must reach at least 60 to 89 grams in its first 12 months of life. I have noted that this female number is the most common size to hit in our experience.

We are currently breeding for the following Giants and Super Giants leopard geckos;

  • Snake Eyed and Red Eyed Ember leopard geckos and various Morphs.
  • Extreme Emerine leopard geckos and various Morphs.
  • XTreme Albino leopard geckos
  • Albino Snow leopard geckos and various Morphs.
  • Enigma leopard geckos
  • RAPTOR leopard geckos and various Morphs.
  • XTreme Raptor leopard geckos
  • Tremper Patternless Albino leopard geckos and various Morphs.
  • Sunglow leopard geckos and various Morphs.
  • Sunglow Raptor leopard geckos
  • Tangerine leopard geckos and various Morphs.
  • Tangerine Albino leopard geckos
  • Snow leopard geckos and various Morphs.
  • Bold and Bandit leopard geckos
  • Designer leopard geckos
  • Enigma leopard geckos -We will have some Enigmas from our various breeding programs in 2011.
  • Eclipes leopard geckos

History:  The first Giant was developed by Ron Tremper in 2000. The Giant morph is a Co-Dominant trait. Normals do not express the Giant trait at all. Giants express the trait and are the heterozygous form, while Super Giants are the homozygous form of the morph and are the largest and can reach up to 170 grams.

You can read more on this subject in Ron's book "The Herpetoculture of Leopard Geckos". Note that this book is going out of print soon, so don't delay in getting a copy. It realy is a must have book for any Leopard Gecko enthusiast.

2015 Breeding Program goal:   Our main goal with our Giant/Super Giant Breeder Program is to produce a group of hatchlings that represent a wide variety of patterns and color traits, while increasing the size of all of our various Morphs.

Update:  We currently have many Sub - Adults and Adults available  for sale. I will post Giant and Super Giant leopard geckos available for sale and updates on the Home page. you can also follow us on Twitter, we are Ember Gecko.

Note most of our Snows will grow out to Giant and Super Giant size assuming they are fed correctly and provided the correct vitamin supplements during the main growth phase of the first 12 to 18 months.

Breeding: Best to breed Mack Snows to Mack Snows to produce Mack Snows. Another good match would be to breed to Mack Super Snows that would give you a nice mix of Snows, and Super Snows.
